The Missing Metric: Digital wellness in the workplace

In this session, we make the invisible visible: the quality of our attention and the costs of digital distraction. We build awareness of the mechanisms that quietly drain focus and energy every day. Connected, not distracted: The architecture of digital collaboration

How much does digital distraction burden your team? In this half-day session, we combine psychological insights on focus and concentration with your day-to-day work reality. We assess your current state of digital wellness and explore different communication needs within the team. Instead of rigid rules, we co-create tailored strategies for your culture. This builds the foundation for a way of working where connection, deep focus, and recovery can all coexist.

Key facts

  • Duration: Half-day (approx. 4 hours incl. breaks)
  • Group: Up to 12–15 people
  • Format: On-site (recommended) or virtual
  • Tech: Technology-agnostic (all operating systems & tools)

Content (tailored to your team)

  • Make the status quo visible: Capture digital wellbeing, digital overwhelm, and cognitive load in the team.
  • Understand culture and patterns: Clarify your current digital work culture—where it helps, where it fragments.
  • Integrate individual differences: Create awareness for different communication styles, response times, and needs (e.g., synchronous vs. asynchronous, “immediate” vs. “batched”).
  • Improve systematically: Identify repeatable adjustments to processes, tools, and standards that enable focus, connection, and recovery.

The Digital Design: Digital work culture with a leadership focus

What is your team’s digital work culture—and where does it come from? We clarify spoken and unspoken norms, how they affect focus, productivity, and well-being, and how leaders role-model them. Together, we develop a digital work culture that is sustainable, productive, and healthy.

Key facts

  • Duration: 1 day (approx. 7–8 hours incl. breaks)
  • Group: Up to 12 people, incl. leaders
  • Format: On-site (preferred) or virtual
  • Tech: Technology-agnostic, focused on reflection and exchange

Content (tailored to your team)

  • Optional leadership block (~60 min.): Align on guardrails, role-modeling, and decision space so the team part becomes maximally effective.
  • Team workshop: Which digital norms apply (availability, meetings, chat tone, focus times)? Where is it helpful, where does it fragment? We assess digital wellbeing, overwhelm, and cognitive load.
  • Practical exercises at the desk: Short meditation, breathing techniques, eye reset, and micro-breaks.
  • Set boundaries & clarify misunderstandings: Phrases and conversation guides for “asynchronous instead of immediate”, expectation management, and resolving digital misunderstandings.
  • Improve systematically: Concrete next steps to measurably improve focus, connection, and recovery in everyday work.

Digital wellness — continuous support

Workshops and impulses are an important start. They often create a clear picture of an ideal state, but that state is rarely realistic to implement overnight. We support you in developing a sustainable digital work culture, implementing measures, and continuously adapting to new challenges.

We give an overview of the research, put it into context, and translate it into practical guidelines. Then we analyze existing workflows as well as digital well-being and digital strain in the team. From this, we derive realistic standards and support implementation—including change management. This strengthens productivity, clarity, and recovery phases in a targeted way.

I don't know the workday these workshops are about from hearsay: for five years I worked as a data analytics consultant at D ONE, mainly for companies in healthcare and finance – data architecture, AI classification models, dashboards, LLM applications. Including meetings in half-hour intervals and chats running in parallel.

Before that: an interdisciplinary PhD in linguistics at the University of Zurich, focusing on neurolinguistics and healthy ageing – in other words, the question of how our brain reacts to the stimuli we feed it every day. Add years of teaching experience as a language teacher and tutor, a certificate as Digital Wellness Educator (Digital Wellness Institute) and Leadership Essentials (IMD).
